History & Heritage

The Marin Art and Garden Center holds a past that stretches back quite a bit, actually. It stands on land that was originally part of a large Mexican land grant, known as Rancho Punta de Quentin. This is a very interesting detail, isn't it?

James Ross, the person for whom the town of Ross got its name, owned this land. He settled here in 1857, on the west side of Corte Madera Creek.
